EOCO Threat Case: Court Orders KOKA’s Arrest
An Accra Circuit Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicator and marketer, Kweku Osei Korankye Asiedu, popularly known as KOKA, after he failed to appear before the court to answer charges of threat of death and publication of false news.
The warrant was issued after the accused failed to honour a court summons despite being duly notified to appear. Prosecutor Chief Inspector Wisdom Alorwu told the court that Asiedu’s absence amounted to disrespect for the judicial process. The court subsequently ordered his arrest and adjourned the case to August 25, 2026.
The charges arise from two videos dominating social media, which prosecutors say threatened officials of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) and spread false information capable of inciting public disorder.
According to the prosecution, one of the videos, recorded on May 29, 2026, allegedly captured Asiedu threatening EOCO personnel by stating: “We know the officers’ houses, we know where they stay, and we will kill you.” Following the circulation of the video, he was invited by investigators on July 14, 2026, to assist with investigations.
Prosecutors further alleged that in another video released on July 13, 2026, Asiedu falsely claimed there was “an order from above, the Presidency, that no one should bring food to Dennis Miracles Aboagye,” who was then in EOCO custody assisting with investigations. The prosecution maintains that the claim was entirely false and was intended to mislead the public, provoke a breach of the peace and undermine EOCO officials in the lawful discharge of their duties.
The court heard that tensions escalated after the publication of the alleged videos. Prosecutors also said the driver of EOCO’s Executive Director was pursued by about 20 unidentified men on motorbikes, who were suspected of intending to attack him. They argued that the incidents left EOCO personnel fearful and affected their ability to carry out their official responsibilities with due diligence.
The prosecution also told the court that following his arrest, Asiedu allegedly admitted the offences in his caution statement during police investigations. The case has been adjourned to August 25, 2026, when the court expects the accused to be produced following the execution of the bench warrant.
