22-Year-Old Mechanic Jailed 25 Years For Robbing Beautician Adenta

An Adenta Circuit Court has sentenced a 22-year-old motor mechanic and Bolt driver to 25 years’ imprisonment in hard labour for robbing a beautician at Mantey Farms, Adenta.
The court found the young mechanic guilty of attacking and robbing the victim of her belongings at Mantey Farms, a suburb of Adenta in the Greater Accra Region. The incident sparked outrage in the community over rising robbery cases involving commercial drivers.
Prosecution told the court that the convict, who worked as both a motor mechanic and a Bolt driver, used his position to lure and rob the beautician. The victim lost valuables and sustained trauma during the attack.
The judge, in delivering the sentence, said the punishment should serve as a deterrent to others who use commercial driving as a cover to commit crime. The 25-year hard labour sentence reflects the gravity of robbery in Ghana’s criminal justice system.
Residents of Mantey Farms have welcomed the judgment, describing it as justice served. Police have urged Bolt and other ride-hailing drivers to uphold professionalism and warned that criminal acts will be prosecuted fully.
