Trump Unveils $17 Billion Gaza Aid Plan

US President Donald Trump has announced a significant aid package for Gaza, with nine member nations pledging $7 billion to a reconstruction fund, while the US commits $10 billion. The announcement was made at the inaugural Board of Peace meeting in Washington, DC, where Trump emphasized the importance of investing in stability and harmony in the region {{IE_0}}ยน{{/IE_0}}.
According to Reuters, countries including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates have each promised at least $1 billion, with Indonesia, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, and Albania agreeing to deploy troops to an international stabilisation force. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto announced his country would contribute up to 8,000 troops to the proposed force.
The aid package is part of Trump’s 20-point plan to end Israel’s war on Gaza, which has devastated the Palestinian territory. However, critics argue that the plan remains vague, including how it would interact with existing institutions like the United Nations.
“Every dollar spent is an investment in stability and the hope of a new and harmonious [region],” Trump said, adding that the Board of Peace is showing how a better future can be built.
The international community remains skeptical, with some questioning the effectiveness of the aid package and the involvement of countries with questionable human rights records. Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem emphasized that any international force must monitor the ceasefire and prevent Israeli aggression.
The Board of Peace, established by Trump, has faced criticism for including Israeli representatives but excluding Palestinians. The initiative aims to tackle conflicts worldwide, but its ultimate mission and impact remain uncertain.
