NDC Greater Accra Seeks Prayers For Unity

The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress has sought spiritual intercession for cohesion within the party ahead of its upcoming internal elections. According to #CitiNewsroom, Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore made the appeal during a donation event ahead of Eid al-Adha, asking the National Chief Imam to pray for peace and stability as delegates prepare to choose new leadership.

Ashie Moore emphasized that a tranquil electoral process is fundamental to preserving organizational solidarity and projecting a unified front to the electorate. He argued that internal contestation must not compromise the collective mission of the party, stressing that discipline and mutual respect should govern proceedings at all levels of the internal contest.

Beyond party matters, the chairman also requested prayers for President John Dramani Mahama, framing the supplication as an expression of solidarity and national goodwill during the sacred season. The gesture underscored the intersection of religious tradition and political life in Ghana, where faith leaders often serve as moral arbiters during periods of transition and contestation.

The donation, which coincided with preparations for Eid al-Adha, formed part of broader outreach efforts to strengthen relations between the NDC and Muslim communities in the capital region. Such engagements are routinely leveraged to consolidate grassroots support and reinforce the party’s commitment to inclusive governance.

With internal elections approaching, the chairman’s appeal reflects a strategic effort to mitigate factional tensions that have historically undermined party coherence. The outcome of the contests will shape the NDC’s operational structure in Greater Accra and influence its capacity to mobilize effectively in the next electoral cycle.
