The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced plans to commence a nationwide meter audit exercise across all its operational areas.
According to the power distributor, the exercise is aimed at reducing commercial losses, improving revenue assurance, and combating electricity theft which continues to affect the company’s operations.
The audit will cover a comprehensive inspection regime targeting all customer metering installations nationwide.
The exercise will involve the inspection and verification of prepaid and postpaid meters, Special Load Tariff (SLT) installations, and associated wiring to ensure accurate electricity measurement and billing.
ECG has called on customers to cooperate with its field teams and grant them access to their premises for the audit, assuring that all personnel will be properly identified with official ECG ID cards.
The company warned that illegal connections and meter tampering will attract the necessary sanctions in accordance with law.
