The New Patriotic Party has held its national Thanksgiving Service to thank God for a peaceful National Delegates Conference and successful election of new national executives ahead of the 2028 general elections. The service brought together party faithful, national executives, and grassroots supporters in a solemn atmosphere of praise and reflection.

Addressing the congregation, NPP Flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia delivered a strong message on the state of Ghana’s economy. He stated that if you ask the government what it has done, they will say inflation and the dollar have fallen, but you cannot have a stable economy with people suffering, a statement that drew loud applause from party members present.

Dr Bawumia argued that economic statistics mean little if ordinary Ghanaians continue to face hardship in their daily lives. According to him, true economic stability must be felt in the pockets of citizens, in affordable food prices, reduced cost of living, and access to jobs, not just in figures quoted on inflation charts and exchange rates.

The NPP Flagbearer, who is leading the party into the 2028 presidential election after securing 56.48 percent in the January 31 primaries, said the current government’s narrative of economic recovery does not reflect the reality on the ground. He charged party communicators to propagate a message of hope that addresses real suffering and presents a credible alternative for Ghanaians.

The Thanksgiving Service also served as a moment for the newly elected national executives led by National Chairman John Boadu to recommit to unity and grassroots mobilization. Prayers were offered for the party, the nation, and for peace ahead of the 2028 elections, with leaders urging members to remain resolute despite being in opposition.

Political analysts say Bawumia’s comments set the tone for the NPP’s 2028 campaign message, which will focus on cost of living and economic relief. As Ghana prepares for another crucial election cycle, the debate over what constitutes real economic stability is expected to dominate national discourse, with Howedey.com tracking all developments live.
