Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Benjamin Quashie, has admitted to errors in the South Africa evacuation list, explaining that mistakes were detected after boarding processes had begun.

Speaking on the development, the High Commissioner stated: “We realised some mistakes after they had given us boarding receipts” – a comment that has since sparked conversations around the management of the evacuation exercise.

He further clarified the role of his office in handling passenger information.

“Border management made a lot of mistakes and we can’t alter such information,” Benjamin Quashie stressed, indicating that some of the discrepancies originated from border management systems beyond the direct control of the High Commission.

The High Commission has since assured that efforts are underway to correct the records and ensure accurate documentation of all evacuees.
