The Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed the Ashanti Regional Director of Education, Dr. William Amankrah Appiah, and the Obuasi Municipal Director of Education, Kwamena Owusu-Nketiah, to step aside with immediate effect.
The directive comes amid ongoing investigations into alleged sexual misconduct involving the headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS), Zakaria Abdulai. According to GES, the action is to allow for an unimpeded and transparent investigation into the matter.
Sources indicate that the GES has constituted a committee to probe the allegations and has assured the public of its commitment to safeguarding students and upholding professional ethics in schools. The Service stressed that it will not condone any form of misconduct that compromises the safety and welfare of learners.
Further updates are expected as investigations continue. Howedey.com will follow the development.
💬 Howedey Insight: GES says the step-aside directive is a standard procedure to ensure independent investigations and protect the integrity of the process.
