Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has denounced the rearrest and remand of NPP Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, as a blatant attempt by the NDC government to silence opposition voices. According to #3NewsGH, Bawumia expressed dismay at the government’s actions, stating that they undermine Ghana’s democratic principles.
Bawumia emphasized that Abronye DC’s rearrest is part of a broader pattern of intimidation and persecution of opposition members. He urged Ghanaians to reject such tactics and stand in solidarity with the NPP.
The former Vice President’s statement comes amidst heightened tensions between the ruling NDC and the opposition NPP, with the latter accusing the government of using state institutions to stifle dissent. The case has sparked widespread debate, with many calling for an end to political persecution.
Abronye DC was rearrested on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, over alleged misinformation and offensive public statements. He is currently in police custody, pending further investigations.
