Mahama Embarks on Korea Mission

President John Dramani Mahama will depart for a four-day working visit to the Republic of Korea on Sunday, March 8, 2026, with a packed itinerary aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and deepening economic cooperation between Ghana and South Korea.
According to Felix Ofusu Kwakye, Mahama’s visit will focus on diplomatic engagement, economic cooperation, and cultural exchange. He will hold high-level talks with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung and meet with the Speaker of the Korean National Assembly, Woo Won-shik.
The President’s schedule includes a ship-naming ceremony at Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard in Ulsan and a keynote address at Yonsei University. Mahama will also interact with Ghanaians living, studying, and working in South Korea, discussing issues affecting them abroad.
The visit aims to promote investment opportunities and strengthen trade relations between Ghana and South Korea. A dinner meeting with business leaders and chief executives is expected to yield tangible outcomes in Ghana’s pursuit of enhanced international partnerships.
Mahama’s visit is part of Ghana’s efforts to diversify its economy and strengthen ties with Asian nations. The country seeks to leverage South Korea’s expertise in technology and infrastructure development to boost its own growth.
