VP Opoku-Agyemang Champions Industrial Growth and Girls' Dignity with Sunda Group

 

Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has emphasized the importance of private sector collaboration in driving Ghana’s industrial growth and protecting girls’ dignity. Speaking during a meeting with Sunda Group, producers of Softcare Sanitary Pads, Opoku-Agyemang highlighted the government’s commitment to the Free Sanitary Pad Programme, a key initiative aimed at addressing period poverty and promoting girls’ education.

 

The Vice President commended Sunda Group for their contributions to the programme, stating that their donations have meaningfully supported the national initiative and helped protect the dignity of Ghanaian girls. She emphasized that the government’s allocation of GH¢292.4 million in the 2026 Budget underscores its commitment to this cause.

 

Opoku-Agyemang also underscored the potential of private sector partnerships to boost productivity, expand operations, and create jobs, aligning with the government’s 24-Hour Economy initiative. The Vice President expressed admiration for Softcare’s growth into a nationally recognized producer, creating thousands of jobs and manufacturing high-quality sanitary pads proudly labelled “Made in Ghana”.

 

The meeting highlighted the government’s focus on innovation, job creation, and protecting girls’ dignity, with Opoku-Agyemang affirming the administration’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with capable private sector players like Sunda Group. The Free Sanitary Pad Programme aims to provide free sanitary pads to over two million schoolgirls across Ghana, promoting education, gender equality, and public health.

 

Sunda Group’s investments in schools and hospitals were also recognized, with opportunities identified for the company to participate in the distribution of government-supplied free sanitary pads for schoolgirls. The Vice President’s engagement with Sunda Group underscores the government’s commitment to driving inclusive growth and industrial transformation.
