Sets Record Straight on ‘Lamine Yamal

Kuami Eugene has clarified that his latest song, ‘Lamine Yamal’, wasn’t meant to get the attention of Spanish footballer Lamine Yamal. Speaking on Kwadwo Sheldon Studios, the Ghanaian highlife and Afrobeat star said he wrote the song purely for its musical merit, believing it would make a name for itself without needing the footballer’s promotion.

Kuami Eugene emphasized that he’s still a loyal Real Madrid fan, with Vinicius Jnr as his favorite player, despite the song being about a Barcelona player. He also praised Lamine Yamal for his resilience, noting similarities between their personalities, particularly how they brush off haters and critics .

The song, released on December 5, 2025, is an energetic dance track with vibrant African rhythms and Ghanaian influences. Kuami Eugene’s fans are loving it, and it’s clear why – the track is crafted for the dancefloor, with an infectious blend of Afrobeats and traditional Ghanaian sounds.

Kuami Eugene also shared his thoughts on fame and public perception, saying it’s funny how people can enjoy your success and then turn against you. He believes every successful person gets backlash, and if someone’s not getting talked about, they might be fading from the limelight.

Lamine Yamal himself hasn’t reached out to Kuami Eugene, but the singer’s not bothered. He only saw a video where someone tried to play the song for Yamal while he was driving. Either way, ‘Lamine Yamal’ is making waves, and Kuami Eugene’s fans are here for it.
