Mahama Launches Major Road Projects in Brong-Ahafo Region
President John Dramani Mahama has cut the sod for the rehabilitation of the Sunyani-Atronie-Acherensua Roads and the construction of the Sunyani Outer Ring Road, marking a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to improve the region’s infrastructure. The projects are part of the government’s Big Push initiative, aimed at addressing Ghana’s infrastructure deficit and promoting economic growth.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Mahama emphasized the importance of roads in socio-economic development, citing their role in facilitating trade, access to markets, and overall growth. He also challenged claims by the previous administration that it had constructed 10,000 kilometers of roads, questioning where these roads were.
The rehabilitation of the Sunyani-Atronie-Acherensua Roads and the construction of the Sunyani Outer Ring Road are expected to improve traffic flow, reduce travel time, and boost economic activity in the region. The projects will also create jobs and stimulate local economic growth
President Mahama tasked contractors to complete the projects within 24 months, expressing confidence that they would meet the deadline. The government has allocated significant funding for the projects, with GH¢13.8 billion earmarked for this year and GH¢30 billion for next year.
