Controversy: Late Ejisu MP’s Widow’s Remarriage

Controversy Surrounds Late Ejisu MP’s Widow’s Remarriage

Apostle Lilian Kumah, the widow of former Deputy Finance Minister and Ejisu MP John Kumah, has sparked mixed reactions after remarrying a year and nine months after his passing. The late politician’s wife tied the knot with Samuel Aryeequaye, an Accra-based politician and philanthropist, in a private ceremony in Obuasi on December 19, 2025.

While some Ghanaians have congratulated Apostle Lilian on her new chapter, others have taken to social media to express their discontent, questioning the timing of her remarriage. Critics argue it’s too soon, while supporters believe she deserves happiness and a new lease on life.

Reactions Pour In

– “You people are talking as if women don’t deserve happiness too,” wrote Ellen Dogbey.

– “Lawyer Maurice Ampaw married 6 months after his wife died. So what’s the problem with her marrying again after almost two years since her husband died?” asked Harrison Papa.

– “Fake tears all because the support system is gone,” commented another user.

Apostle Lilian, founder of Disciples of Christ Ministries, has observed traditional widowhood rites, adhering to Ghanaian customs. Her daughter, Huldah Kumah, has also congratulated her mom on her new marriage.

John Kumah, a respected lawyer, entrepreneur, and politician, passed away on March 7, 2024, at 45, leaving behind six children. His legacy continues to be celebrated, and his widow’s remarriage has reignited discussions on grief, love, and moving forward.
