NACOC Busts Bolle Jos Drug Network In Ghana

The Narcotics Control Commission has arrested three suspects in Ghana for allegedly fronting the drug network of Dutch fugitive Jos Bolle Jos Leijdekkers following the seizure of nearly 3.9 tonnes of cocaine worth an estimated 225 million euros by French customs operatives.

The arrests were effected through coordinated intelligence after the French interception exposed a transnational trafficking route with linkages to Ghana. Investigators believe the suspects served as logistical facilitators, providing warehousing, documentation cover and local coordination for the syndicate.

The seizure ranks among the largest cocaine interceptions in recent European maritime enforcement, underscoring the growing sophistication of narcotics cartels that exploit West African corridors for transshipment to Europe. Security analysts describe Bolle Jos as one of Europe’s most wanted narcotics entrepreneurs with extensive networks across multiple jurisdictions.

According to GHOneNews, NACOC officials confirmed that the suspects are in custody assisting with investigations while exhibits and financial trails are being examined for prosecution. The Commission emphasised its commitment to dismantling foreign-directed drug enterprises operating on Ghanaian soil.

Ghana has in recent years intensified anti-narcotics operations amid global concern over the use of the Gulf of Guinea as a transit hub. Previous collaborations with Interpol, French customs and regional agencies have led to significant interdictions and asset seizures.

The latest development is expected to trigger broader scrutiny of port operations, freight forwarding and private warehousing, with authorities signalling deeper audits and enhanced surveillance to prevent Ghana from being leveraged as a staging post for international drug trade.
