Ghana: Youth 15-24 Account For 30% New HIV Infections

Young people aged 15 to 24 account for 30% of new HIV infections in Ghana, the Ghana AIDS Commission has revealed, raising fresh concerns over the vulnerability of the youth.
The Commission says the trend is driven by low awareness, stigma, risky behavior and poor access to testing and prevention services among adolescents and young adults, and is calling for intensified education and targeted interventions.
Stakeholders are urging parents, schools, churches and health agencies to step up conversations on HIV prevention, encourage regular testing, and ensure young people have access to accurate information and support without judgment.
💬 Howedey Insight: With youth making up 30% of new infections, the Ghana AIDS Commission says protecting the next generation must become an urgent national priority.
