NDC Proceeds With Nkwanta North Elections Despite Court Injunction

Speaking on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News on Thursday, October 22, Mr Jibrill said the party had not been formally served with the injunction and was therefore continuing preparations for the elections.
The High Court in Dambai in the Oti Region had on Wednesday, October 21, granted an interlocutory injunction restraining the NDC from conducting the elections, following concerns that some individuals selected or presented as branch executives were not legitimate representatives.
Mr Jibrill acknowledged party members’ right to seek legal redress but argued that going to court would not automatically halt the party’s internal electoral processes. “You can go to court. Nobody can prevent anybody from going to court. But that doesn’t stop the election,” he said.
The Nkwanta North poll is part of the NDC’s nationwide constituency executive elections scheduled for October 24 and 25, as the party reorganises its grassroots structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.
