The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has directed members and aspirants participating in its ongoing reorganisation exercise to comply with new restrictions on the size and placement of campaign posters and banners, giving those affected five days to make the necessary corrections.

The directive, contained in a circular signed by General Secretary Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey on Friday, October 9, 2026, said the party has observed indiscriminate mounting of oversized billboards, posters and banners in constituencies across the country, contrary to approved guidelines. The NDC said all posters must not exceed standard A2 size and must be placed only at approved party offices and notice boards.

According to the party, the new restrictions are aimed at ensuring sanity, reducing visual pollution, protecting the environment and enforcing discipline ahead of branch and constituency elections. The NDC noted that the reorganisation exercise is not a campaign for national positions, but a rebuilding process to strengthen party structures from the polling station level.

All aspirants who have mounted oversized posters and banners along major streets, markets and public buildings have been given five days to remove them or face sanctions, including disqualification. Regional and constituency executives have been tasked to enforce the directive and submit compliance reports to the National Secretariat by Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

The party also warned that no individual should paste posters on walls of public schools, hospitals, or state installations, in line with EPA and District Assembly bye-laws. The NDC’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC) said it wants to set an example for other parties by promoting decent and environmentally friendly politicking.

Political analysts say the move by the NDC is timely, as many aspirants have already flooded constituencies with giant billboards for the 2028 internal contests, months before the official campaign period. The party says failure to comply within five days will lead to removal by taskforces and costs surcharged to offending aspirants.
