“The NPP will win the 2028 elections because our membership is larger than that of the NDC” – NPP Chairman John Boadu has declared on UTV Ghana, expressing strong confidence in the New Patriotic Party’s chances of returning to power in the next general elections.

NPP National Chairman John Boadu, who has risen from General Secretary to Chairman of the party, said the NPP’s grassroots base remains the largest and most organised in Ghana’s political history. He argued that sheer numbers, coupled with the party’s tradition and structures from polling station to national level, give the NPP a clear advantage over the National Democratic Congress.

Speaking on UTV Ghana, Chairman Boadu said the NPP’s membership drive over the years has created a database far bigger than that of the NDC, especially in strongholds and swing regions. He maintained that if the party unites after its internal elections and works hard, victory in 2028 is assured regardless of current economic challenges.

His comments come as both NPP and NDC intensify preparations for the 2028 polls, with the NPP expected to hold its presidential primaries in early 2027. Political analysts say membership claims alone do not win elections, but voter turnout, economic conditions and candidate appeal will be decisive factors.

Chairman John Boadu urged party faithful to focus on unity and grassroots mobilisation rather than internal wrangling. He said the NPP’s superior numbers will only translate into victory if the party remains disciplined, resolves its differences and presents a compelling message to Ghanaians ahead of 2028.

The interview on UTV Ghana has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with NPP supporters hailing his optimism while NDC supporters dismissed the claim as mere political talk, insisting that elections are won by performance and not by membership registers.
