Goldbod Jewellery Launches Heritage Village Initiative

Ghana’s creative economy received a boost yesterday as Vice-President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang launched the Heritage Village initiative by Goldbod Jewellery, a pioneering platform championing locally crafted gold jewellery. The event, timed to coincide with Ghana Month, underscores the country’s potential to transition from raw gold exports to high-value product creation.
The Heritage Village initiative is a strategic move to empower artisans and strengthen Ghana’s creative economy. Led by Gertrude Emefa Donkor, the initiative positions gold not only as a natural resource but as a symbol of national pride, innovation, and economic transformation.
Vice-President Opoku-Agyemang commended Goldbod Jewellery for contributing meaningfully to the national discourse on industrialisation and enterprise development. “Ghana’s future growth lies in its capacity to create, innovate, and build resilient industries,” she said, expressing confidence in the initiative’s potential to inspire excellence and drive sustainable economic progress.
The Vice-President emphasized the importance of nurturing globally competitive local businesses, saying it was crucial for Ghana’s economic transformation. The Heritage Village initiative is expected to showcase Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and promote the country’s gold jewellery industry.
The three-day event features exhibitions, workshops, and networking opportunities, providing a platform for artisans, entrepreneurs, and industry stakeholders to connect and explore opportunities.
