EC Ready for NPP Presidential Primary on Jan 31

 

 

The Electoral Commission (EC) has assured stakeholders of its readiness to conduct a smooth and credible New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary scheduled for January 31, 2026. According to Citi News, the EC’s Deputy Director of Research, Fred Tetteh, stated that all logistical and administrative arrangements are in place.

 

Preparations are far ahead, with the printing of ballot papers completed under strict supervision, and the EC has taken full custody of the materials. The voter album for delegates has also been received, and distribution of election materials to the various voting centers will begin on Tuesday, January 27.

 

The NPP has also expressed confidence in the EC’s readiness, with the party’s National Organizer, Henry Nana Boakye, assuring that the primary will be conducted in a free, fair, transparent, and peaceful manner. The party has established 333 polling centers across 276 constituencies nationwide, with 211,849 delegates eligible to vote.

 

According to Ghana News Agency, the Chairperson of the NPP Presidential Elections Committee, Joseph Osei-Owusu, stated that all logistics have been completed to ensure a transparent and orderly process. The Ghana Police Service has also assured adequate security deployment to ensure a peaceful election.

 

The NPP presidential primary is a crucial event, as the party seeks to elect its flagbearer ahead of the 2026 general elections. The EC’s assurance of readiness is a significant boost to the party’s efforts to conduct a credible and transparent election.

 

The NPP has called on all stakeholders to support the process and uphold democratic principles, emphasizing the importance of unity and peace during the primary period.
