Dealing with Difficult Situations

“Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” — Matthew 17:21 KJV

Difficult situations do not always respond to normal prayers. Some battles require more. There
are mountains that will not move by casual prayer, they move by prayer all night coupled with
fasting. When you consecrate yourself, deny the flesh, and give yourself to God, heaven moves
on your behalf.

Praying all night is not religious exercise; it is spiritual warfare. Jesus prayed all night before
choosing the apostles, and He prayed all night before the cross. Night prayer silences distractions
and stirs deep communion. When you pray through the night, you are telling the flesh to be quiet
and the spirit to be loud. That is when prophetic insight is activated and the power of God is
released.

Fasting sharpens that power. Fasting humbles the soul and makes the spirit alert. “Is not this the
fast that I have chosen…?” — Isaiah 58:6 KJV. When you fast, you are not starving God, you are
starving the enemy of his access to your flesh. Difficult situations bow when the flesh is denied
and the spirit is fed. Fasting plus prayer all night creates a spiritual force that hell cannot resist.

You must also war with the prophetic power in Scripture. Do not just pray about the situation,
declare the Word against it. “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee”
— Psalm 119:11 KJV, and also that I might war with it. Find the Scripture that speaks to your
situation, speak it, pray it, decree it. That is activating the prophetic power in the Word. When
you war with Scripture, you are not fighting with your strength, you are fighting with the power
of God.

Prayer:
Father, I receive grace to war in prayer and fasting. Teach my hands to war and my fingers to fight.
Activate Your prophetic Word in my mouth and let every difficult situation bow to Your power. In
Jesus’ name, Amen.
