Nigeria Now Third Largest Investor In Ghana – Baba Sadiq

Nigeria has consolidated its position as the third largest source of new investments into Ghana, underscoring deepening economic interdependence between the two West African powerhouses. The revelation signals a resurgence of cross border capital flows amid renewed diplomatic and commercial re-engagement.

According to #EIB Network, Ghana’s High Commissioner Designate to Nigeria, Baba Sadiq, disclosed that Nigerian enterprises continue to demonstrate formidable appetite for Ghana’s investment landscape, spanning fintech, energy, manufacturing and services. He attributed the trajectory to improved investor facilitation, regulatory clarity and shared market aspirations within the subregion.

The High Commissioner Designate is quoted as observing that the investment surge reflects confidence in Ghana’s macroeconomic stability and its strategic role as a gateway to continental trade. He is further quoted as stressing that strengthening bilateral frameworks will be pivotal in unlocking additional capital, fostering technology transfer and generating sustainable employment for youth across both economies.

Analysts contend that Nigeria’s growing footprint aligns with broader intra African investment patterns championed under the African Continental Free Trade Area, where regional conglomerates are increasingly leveraging proximity, cultural affinity and scale. Ghana’s comparatively stable business environment, coupled with its reform oriented investment code, has rendered it an attractive destination for Nigerian capital seeking diversification and expansion.

The development is expected to invigorate policy coordination, bilateral investment protection mechanisms and joint venture initiatives aimed at maximizing mutual prosperity. Stakeholders anticipate that sustained engagement at the high commission level will catalyze even greater inflows, reinforcing the historic partnership between Accra and Abuja while advancing West Africa’s economic integration agenda.
