Member of Parliament for Ho Central, Edem Kpotosu, has extended appreciation to women in the constituency for their massive turnout at a free breast and cervical cancer screening exercise at Taviefe Avenya.
The exercise commenced on 28th August, 2026 at the Taviefe Avenya Clinic under the theme Healthy Woman, Strong Community and sub-theme Screen Today, Secure Tomorrow.
Addressing participants, Mr Kpotosu said the impressive turnout was an affirmation of the collective resolve to protect the health of mothers, wives, sisters and daughters in the constituency. He said the intervention was driven by his conviction that no woman should die from a preventable cancer.
The MP noted that early detection remains critical to saving lives, adding that screening is swift, safe and strictly confidential. He commended the team of health professionals, staff of the clinic, constituency team and volunteers who supported the exercise.
The initiative builds on earlier outreaches by the MP, including a similar free cervical screening for women at Ahoe in the Ho municipality months ago, where beneficiaries received counselling and referrals.
Mr Kpotosu said he remains committed to accessible preventive healthcare, describing a healthy woman as the bedrock of a strong family and prosperous community. The programme forms part of broader efforts to improve oncology awareness and reduce late presentation of cases in the Volta Region.
