Queiroz Unveils Ambitious Black Stars Revival Plan

In a significant development, the Ghana Football Association has appointed Carlos Queiroz as the new head coach of the Black Stars, Ghana’s senior national team, ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The veteran Portuguese tactician, known for his impressive resume with top clubs and national teams, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having managed the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Portugal.

According to the Ghana Football Association, Queiroz’s appointment is aimed at strengthening the team’s preparations for the upcoming World Cup. The 73-year-old coach has expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, describing his new role as a “mission” rather than just a job. “It is with a deep sense of gratitude to GFA, responsibility and humility that I embrace this new chapter with the National Football Team of Ghana,” Queiroz said in a statement.

Queiroz’s experience in major tournaments is expected to be a significant asset for the Black Stars. He led Portugal to the knockout stage of the 2010 World Cup and managed Iran at the 2014 and 2018 tournaments. Ghana Football Association officials believe Queiroz’s expertise will help the team navigate the challenges of the World Cup.

The Black Stars will face stiff competition in Group L, alongside England, Croatia, and Panama. Queiroz’s first task will be to prepare the team for their opening match against Panama on June 17, 2026, in Toronto. “This is not just another job, it is a mission,” Queiroz emphasized, outlining his vision for the team.

With his vast experience and tactical prowess, Queiroz is expected to bring much-needed stability and structure to the Black Stars. As the team gears up for the World Cup, fans are optimistic about their chances under the new coach.
