Mobile Money Transactions Surge to GH₵447.4bn in February 2026

Ghana’s mobile money ecosystem continues to flourish, with the value of transactions reaching an impressive GH₵447.4 billion in February 2026, marking a significant increase from GH₵316.2 billion in the same period last year. According to #BankofGhana, this upward trend underscores the platform’s dominance in digital payments and financial inclusion.
The data reveals a substantial growth in mobile money usage, with the balance of float increasing to GH₵33.9 billion in February 2026 from GH₵27.9 billion in February 2025. The value of transactions through mobile money interoperability also rose to GH₵4.9 billion from GH₵2.9 billion, while the number of transactions increased to 27.2 million from 19.7 million.
The expansion of the agent network has been a key driver of this growth, with registered mobile money agents increasing to 976,000 in February 2026, compared to 896,000 in February 2025. Active agents also rose to 515,000 from 411,000, indicating a deepening engagement at the grassroots level.
Experts attribute this growth to the increasing adoption of mobile money services, driven by convenience, accessibility, and the government’s efforts to promote digital payments. The mobile money sector is expected to continue its upward trajectory, with projections suggesting it will reach USD 933.96 billion by 2033.
As Ghana’s mobile money landscape continues to evolve, stakeholders are optimistic about the future, citing the sector’s potential to drive financial inclusion and economic growth.
