Tariff Relief for Ghanaians as PURC Cuts Rates

Ghanaian consumers can expect some relief in their electricity and water bills, as the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission has announced a reduction in tariffs. Effective April 1, electricity tariffs will decrease by 4.81%, while water tariffs will drop by 3.06%.
According to #PURC, the reduction is aimed at cushioning consumers amidst the ongoing economic challenges. The commission’s decision is expected to bring some respite to households and businesses grappling with the rising cost of living.
The reduction in tariffs is a welcome development, especially for low-income households who struggle to pay their utility bills. The move is also seen as a gesture of goodwill by the government to support its citizens.
“We understand the difficulties Ghanaians are facing, and we are committed to doing our part to alleviate the burden,” said a PURC spokesperson.
The reduction in tariffs is expected to have a positive impact on the economy, as consumers will have more disposable income to spend on other essential goods and services.
The new tariffs will take effect from April 1, and consumers are expected to start seeing the changes in their bills from the next billing cycle.
