MMDAs Prep for 2026 Performance Contracts

Ho, Ghana – A Sensitization and Orientation Workshop on Proposed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the 2026 Performance Contracts of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) was held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the Stevens Hotel in Ho, the Volta Regional Capital.

The workshop, aimed at equipping MMDA officials with the necessary knowledge and skills to improve their performance, covered crucial topics such as the Revenue Improvement Action Plan (RIAP), Key Services of the MMDAs, and the need to advertise them.

Mrs. Greda Asante, Director of General Administration at the Office of the Head of Local Government Service (OHLGS), emphasized the importance of effective sanitation management within the Assemblies. She also stressed the need for client management and expedited services delivery, urging MMDA officials to be mindful of the conditions of permits issued to builders.

“Some of the issues discussed include the Revenue Improvement Action Plan (RIAP), Key Services of the MMDAs, and the need to advertise them,” Mrs. Asante said. “The performance management system of the MMDAs utilizes the performance contracts. Performance indicators must be well documented with a proper monitoring and evaluation system to measure performance and track variances.”

“The aim of the orientation is to equip participants with strategies to achieve the goals of the performance contracts,” she added. The workshop also highlighted the need for MMDAs to be proactive in managing their resources and delivering services to their constituents. “We must not flourish the conditions of the permits we give to builders,” Mrs. Asante cautioned, emphasizing the importance of responsible and accountable governance.

The 2026 Performance Contracts are expected to focus on key areas such as revenue mobilization, sanitation, and infrastructure development, among others. The sensitization workshop is part of efforts to ensure that MMDAs are well-equipped to deliver on their mandates and improve the lives of Ghanaians.

The workshop brought together officials from various MMDAs in the Volta Region, providing a platform for sharing experiences and best practices in local governance.
