Ghana’s diplomatic mission in mourning as Sanni Jajah dies
The Deputy Head of Mission in Riyadh passes away as details of his death yet to be disclosed.
Ghana’s Deputy Head of Mission and Deputy Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sanni Jajah, has died. His death was announced on Saturday, August 8, 2026, by Yussif Issaka Jajah, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso North and Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, in a post on Facebook.
Mr Jajah served at Ghana’s diplomatic mission in Riyadh alongside Ghana’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Said Sinare. As Deputy Head of Mission, he was involved in Ghana’s diplomatic engagements with Saudi Arabia and contributed to efforts to strengthen relations between the two countries. He also played an important role in supporting Ghanaian nationals in Saudi Arabia, particularly Ghanaian pilgrims travelling to the Kingdom for religious obligations.
His responsibilities included assisting with matters affecting Ghanaian citizens and supporting the work of the mission in advancing Ghana’s interests in Saudi Arabia. The announcement of his death has left Ghana’s diplomatic community and those who worked closely with him mourning, although details surrounding his passing have not yet been disclosed.
Mr Yussif Issaka Jajah said further updates would be provided as more information becomes available. The circumstances and cause of death remain unknown as of the time of publication. Mr Jajah’s death comes as a loss to Ghana’s diplomatic service, particularly its representation in Saudi Arabia, where the mission plays a significant role in managing bilateral relations, consular matters and issues involving the sizeable Ghanaian community in the Kingdom.
