GIFEC Inspects Awate Rural Telephony Project Sites.
The Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) has intensified efforts to expand digital connectivity across the country with an inspection of ongoing Rural Telephony Project (RTP) sites in the Volta Region.
The inspection was led by GIFEC’s Corporate Affairs Director, Miss Francisca Adjei, who headed a team to project sites at Awate Tornu, Awate Agame and Awate Todzi as part of the Fund’s commitment to ensuring the successful delivery of telecommunications infrastructure in underserved communities.
The visit provided the team with the opportunity to assess the progress of construction works, evaluate the quality of the infrastructure being developed and ensure that the projects are being executed according to approved timelines and required standards.
The Rural Telephony Project is a key initiative aimed at extending mobile network coverage and improving access to digital communication services in rural and remote communities. The project is expected to bridge the digital divide, enhance access to information and communication technologies, and support socio-economic development by connecting more Ghanaians to reliable telecommunications services.
GIFEC said the inspection forms part of its broader mandate to monitor ongoing projects and ensure that quality standards are maintained throughout implementation.
The Fund reaffirmed its commitment to delivering quality ICT infrastructure across Ghana, stressing that expanding digital connectivity remains central to the country’s digital transformation agenda. It noted that efforts are ongoing to ensure that every Ghanaian, regardless of location, has access to reliable communication services and the opportunities that come with digital inclusion.
