Wanted Thief Caught at Diaspora Summit 2025
The Ghana Police Service has arrested a wanted suspect, Reagan Kwesi Egbi Addo, alias Morgan Addo, during security operations at the Diaspora Summit 2025 at the Accra International Conference Centre. Addo was posing as a legitimate participant, wearing an official summit tag, but was identified by undercover officers.
The police had received complaints about thefts at previous events at the AICC, including mobile phones, iPads, and credit cards. This led to heightened vigilance and an undercover operation, resulting in Addo’s arrest. He failed to provide a credible explanation for his presence at the event.
Addo allegedly stole ATM cards by manipulating users at ATM locations and during conference meetings, swiping valuables from participants’ bags and laptops. He used the stolen cards to withdraw money from various ATMs. A search of his residence led to the recovery of eight ATM cards belonging to different individuals.
The recovered cards have been retained as exhibits, and police are working with the respective banks to trace the rightful owners. Addo is being detained at the Ministries Police Station for further investigation .
The Diaspora Summit 2025, themed “Resetting Ghana: The Diaspora as the 17th Region,” attracted global Ghanaian and Pan-African leaders. The police have reaffirmed their commitment to protecting lives and property, especially during large public gatherings.
