The Member of Parliament for Anlo, Hon. Richard Kwame Sefe, has confirmed the relocation of a landmark AstroTurf project to Anloga Hogbe Park, a move championed by Hon. Sylvester Adinam Mensah, CEO of the Ghana Export-Import Bank (GEXIM). This initiative underscores GEXIM’s commitment to supporting local infrastructure and cultural heritage, bringing modern sporting facilities to the Southern Volta region.
According to Everlove News, the decision to relocate the project followed a joint inspection of the Keta Reclaimed Land, which revealed terrain constraints unsuitable for the specialized construction of an AstroTurf pitch. Hogbe Park offers a more stable foundation, ensuring a sustainable and safe facility for the community.
The relocation has garnered support from traditional and political leaders, including Anlo Dukor’s Awadada, Togbi Agbesi Awusu II, and MPs Hon. Richard Kwame Sefe and Hon. Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey. This collaboration highlights the project’s regional significance, serving as a multipurpose hub for Anlo and Keta youth.
The facility will host the historic Hogbetsotso Festival and foster local athletic talent, providing a world-class space for cultural and social gatherings. Under Sylvester Mensah and GEXIM’s leadership, the project demonstrates strategic leadership and collaborative development in enhancing the Anlo Kingdom’s sporting and cultural landscape.
The project aligns with Ghana’s broader efforts to promote sports development, as seen in recent AstroTurf projects in Asawase and the Ghana Prisons Service {{IE_0}}¹{{/IE_0}} {{IE_1}}²{{/IE_1}}.
As construction begins at Hogbe Park, the community anticipates a vibrant hub for sports, culture, and social activities.
