Pakistan Mosque Explosion Kills Several Near Police Complex
Several people have reportedly been killed in an explosion at a mosque near a police complex in northwest Pakistan after an explosives laden vehicle rammed the gate of the facility and detonated, triggering gunfire and a second suicide blast inside the compound.
Security officials said the attackers targeted the police complex during prayer time, with the first blast breaching the entrance and allowing armed militants to engage officers. A second suicide bomber reportedly detonated inside the mosque area, causing multiple fatalities and injuries among police personnel and worshippers.
According to Al Jazeera, authorities in northwest Pakistan confirmed the vehicle borne attack followed by gunfire and a second suicide explosion at the mosque near the police complex. Rescue teams have evacuated the wounded to nearby hospitals while a clearance operation continues to secure the area and account for casualties.
