Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has sued New Patriotic Party (NPP) communication team member Benjamin Gyewu-Appiah, popularly known as Benghazi, and Media General Ghana Limited over allegations linking him romantically to Ghanaian musician Fantana and accusing him of misappropriating public funds.
The suit follows comments made by Benghazi during a discussion on Onua FM on October 14, 2026, in which he described Fantana as the minister’s girlfriend and alleged that Mr Ablakwa had given her money he had stolen.
“Okudzeto Ablakwa has given all the money he took to Fantana. He is having an affair with Fantana. Ablakwa and his wife will go to jail,” he alleged.
A writ of summons issued by the High Court of Justice in Accra on October 30, 2026, identifies Mr Ablakwa as the plaintiff, with Benghazi, and Media General Ghana Limited, the owners and operators of Onua FM and Onua TV, as the defendants.
💬 Howedey Insight: Ablakwa fights back. After Benghazi claimed on Onua FM that Fantana is his girlfriend and he stole money for her, the Foreign Minister drags him and Media General to court.
