This morning, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs accompanied Madam Doris Adu Gyamfi and a relative to the airport, in the company of other family members, as she departs to the USA to join other family members in mourning Javits Frimpong, the 15-year-old Ghanaian who was brutally killed in the Bronx, New York.
Staff from our New York Mission are on standby to receive her at the airport and provide her with all the necessary support as we work together to give the late Javits a befitting burial.
Ms. Doris Adu Gyamfi expressed her sincere appreciation to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), for his personal support throughout this process. She also thanked the Deputy, Hon. James Gyakyi Quayson (MP) for his guidance and words of consolation. The bereaved mother further expressed gratitude to the Mayor of New York City, Zohran Kwame Mamdani, and the US Embassy in Ghana for their timely intervention towards the visa acquisition.
The Ministry is working through its Mission in New York to ensure that the perpetrators of this devastating crime will be apprehended and brought to justice.
