Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah Driven Away From EOCO Premises

Lawyer Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah has been driven away from the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) premises as investigations into his case continue.
According to a report by UTV Ghana, the Manhyia South MP was seen leaving the EOCO headquarters after reporting to the anti-graft agency following the High Court warrant that cleared EOCO to arrest him. The development comes just hours after he turned himself in.
The MP for Manhyia South had earlier surrendered to EOCO after the Accra High Court granted the agency a warrant to arrest him and to search and seize relevant documents. EOCO says it is investigating alleged financial irregularities at SIC Life Savings and Loans Company Limited.
Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah has maintained that he was never personally under investigation. According to his law firm Sarkodie Baffour Awuah and Partners, the firm legally represented SIC Life Savings and Loans and was the entity under probe, with lawful representatives cooperating with EOCO on three occasions in March and April 2026.
EOCO, led by Executive Director Raymond Archer, disputes that account and says the MP ignored two invitations issued in February 2026. The September 23 attempted arrest at the High Court Complex, shortly after he appeared as counsel for a client in the Ghana Jollof matter, sparked criticism from the Ghana Bar Association.
The case is linked to a GH¢3.5 million investment by SIC Life Savings and Loans with the defunct Equity Savings and Loans, which allegedly grew with interest to about GH¢14 million. EOCO has not publicly detailed its full allegations, but fears documents could be concealed if action is delayed.
For now, the MP has been allowed to leave the EOCO premises as investigations proceed. The agency is expected to issue a formal statement on the next steps after his latest appearance.
