Three Arrested Over Unauthorized Drones Spotted Above EOCO Premises

Three suspects, including a woman, have been arrested after unauthorized drones were sighted flying over the premises of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) following the surrender of Manhyia South MP, Baffour Awuah.
The incident occurred shortly after the MP reported himself to EOCO headquarters in Accra to assist with ongoing investigations. Security officers on duty reportedly spotted multiple drones hovering over the restricted facility, prompting an immediate security sweep.
According to EIB Network, GHOne TV and GHOne News, the drones were believed to be attempting to capture footage of the EOCO enclave at a time of heightened media and public interest in the Baffour Awuah case. The swift intervention by security led to the arrest of three persons suspected to be operating the devices from a nearby location.
EOCO has not yet issued an official statement on the drone incident, but sources indicate that the suspects are being interrogated over possible breaches of national security protocols. Flying drones over security installations without authorization is an offense under Ghana’s security laws.
The arrest comes amid intense attention on EOCO following the High Court’s clearance for the agency to arrest the Manhyia South MP. Baffour Awuah, whose law firm represented SIC Life Savings and Loans Company Limited, had surrendered to EOCO after days of legal tussle.
Security analysts say the drone sighting raises serious concerns about the protection of sensitive state institutions. EOCO is expected to collaborate with the National Security and the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority to establish the motive behind the unauthorized surveillance and whether the suspects have links to any persons of interest in ongoing cases.
