Mahama Pays Courtesy Call on Awoemefia Amidst Tidal Wave Visit

 

President John Dramani Mahama made a courtesy call on the Awoemefia of Anlo, Togbui Sri III, at his palace in Anloga, as part of his visit to the Volta Region to assess the damage caused by recent tidal waves. According to #MahamaThePresident, the President’s visit to the palace was a gesture of respect and solidarity with the traditional leader and the people of Anlo.

 

During his visit, President Mahama briefed the Awoemefia on his earlier visit to Fuveme, a community severely affected by the tidal waves, and discussed the government’s plans to provide relief to affected residents. The Awoemefia, in turn, expressed appreciation for the President’s concern and assured him of the people’s support in the face of the disaster.

 

The President’s visit to the palace was followed by an inspection of the Blekusu sea defence project phase two, which is aimed at protecting the coastline from further erosion. President Mahama emphasized the importance of the project in safeguarding the livelihoods of communities in the region.

 

The tidal waves have caused significant damage to infrastructure and homes in the Volta Region, leaving many residents without access to basic necessities. The government’s response to the disaster has been swift, with President Mahama’s visit aimed at assessing the situation and providing support to affected communities.

 

The Awoemefia of Anlo, Togbui Sri III, has been a vocal advocate for the welfare of his people, and his meeting with President Mahama underscores the importance of collaboration between government and traditional leaders in addressing the challenges facing the region.
