Police Gun Down Two Armed Robbers in Tema Heist

In a swift response to a robbery incident, the Tema Regional Operations Team shot and killed two armed robbers who had attacked a Mobile Money vendor in Community 5, Tema, on Monday morning, April 13, 2026. The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 a.m. at the Aba Fosuah Plaza, leaving a female vendor with a gunshot wound to her leg.
According to #Ghana News Agency, the suspects, who arrived on a motorbike, pretended to perform a “cash-out” transaction before pulling out a pistol and demanding cash. The vendor resisted, leading to a struggle and the shooting. A police patrol team intercepted the suspects near Tema General Hospital, and in the ensuing chase, the robbers opened fire on the officers, prompting them to return fire.
The two suspects were taken to the Police Hospital for medical attention but were pronounced dead on arrival. Items recovered from them include GH¢11,390 in cash, a 9mm Luger pistol with four rounds of ammunition, three Android phones, assorted SIM cards, a talisman, and the victim’s Ghana Card.
The Tema Regional Police Command has reiterated its commitment to maintaining safety and security in the area, urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly. The police have also assured that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend any accomplices.
The incident highlights the bravery of the Tema Regional Operations Team in responding to the robbery and neutralizing the threat posed by the armed robbers.
