Vice President Champions Peacebuilding at KAIPTC Talks

 

 

Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to inclusive peacebuilding and forward-looking security governance during a meeting with the leadership of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC). The discussions, held at her office, focused on the Centre’s mandate and its expanding role in advancing peace, security, and inclusion.

 

According to #GhanaVicePresident, the Vice President commended KAIPTC for its enduring contribution as a regional hub for peacekeeping training, research, and policy dialogue. She particularly acknowledged the Centre’s strong emphasis on women, peace and security, youth mentorship, and institutional reform – key pillars that continue to underpin national and regional stability.

 

The meeting highlighted the shared responsibility required to sustain peace and ensure that institutions remain aligned with their core mandates. Emphasis was placed on strengthening early warning and mediation mechanisms, noting that timely and proactive interventions are critical to preventing the escalation of tensions.

 

The Vice President stressed the need to deepen women’s participation in peace processes, nurture youth leadership, and enhance institutional visibility. Discussions also explored the growing relevance of Artificial Intelligence in governance and security research, with a call for clarity, ethical standards, and responsible application.

 

The engagement reaffirmed the government’s commitment to proactive conflict prevention in service to Ghana and the wider region. The KAIPTC leadership welcomed the Vice President’s vision and reaffirmed their dedication to supporting national and regional peace initiatives.

 

The meeting underscored the importance of collaboration in addressing the complex peace and security challenges facing Ghana and the region.
