Dennis Miracles Aboagye claimed that the bodyguard was relieved of his duties after the alleged disappearance of funds earmarked for evacuation logistics. He argued that the matter raises serious integrity concerns, especially at a time when government says it spent GH¢49.72 million to evacuate 1,964 Ghanaians following xenophobic disturbances in South Africa.
Aboagye insisted that Minister Ablakwa must publicly address whether the bodyguard was indeed dismissed, whether the $10,000 has been recovered, and what disciplinary and accountability measures have been taken. The NPP says Ghanaians deserve transparent accounting for the GH¢5,000 repatriation allowance and GH¢500 transportation allowance paid to evacuees.
Political watchers say the NPP’s press conference adds fresh pressure on the Ministry to publish a detailed breakdown of charter flight costs, commercial tickets and allowances. Howedey.com will continue to follow the developing story for official clarification.
