Bawumia No Match for NDC Heavyweights, Says Worlasi Dogbey

A prominent member of the Ho Central Constituency NDC, Hon. Raphael Worlasi Dogbey, has dismissed Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s chances against the party’s potential flagbearership candidates. According to Hon. Dogbey, Bawumia, the NPP’s flagbearer, is no match for NDC’s Haruna Iddrisu, Ato Forson, Asiedu Nketia, and Julius Debrah.

Hon. Dogbey made the comment on Ewenyigba TV’s morning show with Tony Mark-Boye today, February 3, 2026, saying the NDC’s candidates are more formidable opponents. He expressed confidence in the party’s ability to field a strong candidate who can lead them to victory in the next election.

According to InfoAnalytics, the decline in percentage of endorsement from 61% to 54% indicates that even his own party has lost confidence in Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The NDC is yet to announce its flagbearership candidates, but several individuals have expressed interest in running, including the mentioned heavyweights. The party’s choice of candidate is expected to significantly impact the outcome of the election.

According to Hon. Dogbey, the NDC’s candidates have a strong track record and are better equipped to lead the country than Bawumia. He urged NDC supporters to remain focused and united in their efforts to win the next election.

The comment is seen as a boost to the NDC’s morale, as the party prepares for a tough battle against the NPP. Bawumia’s chances against the NDC’s potential candidates will be closely watched by political analysts.

The stage is set for a highly contested election, with both major parties vying for power.
