Tears of Desperation: Akosua Serwaa's Family Fallout Over Daddy Lumba's Estate

Akosua Serwaa, the first wife of late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, is facing a new challenge in her bid to administer his estate – opposition from her own daughter. According to Ashante Queen, a leading member of Team Legal Wives, Charlyn Fosuh, one of Akosua Serwaa’s daughters, has asked her mother to remove her name from the letters of administration application, leaving Akosua Serwaa in tears.
The application, filed at the Kumasi High Court, seeks to grant Akosua Serwaa authority to manage and distribute Daddy Lumba’s properties, including 19 assets valued at approximately GH¢10.8 million. However, the court adjourned the application, citing the need for an affidavit from all 10 children confirming they’ve chosen Akosua Serwaa as their representative. It has emerged that Akosua Serwaa hadn’t consulted Charlyn before nominating her as the representative of the children.
According to Ashante Queen, Akosua Serwaa was devastated when Charlyn called to request removal from the application. “If your own child is not backing you in court, then it means there are things that they wish to say,” Ashante Queen noted.
The dispute is part of a larger battle over Daddy Lumba’s estate, with Odo Broni, the late musician’s second wife, also contesting Akosua Serwaa’s application. The court has directed Akosua Serwaa to justify her application within seven days.
Daddy Lumba, who passed away on July 26, 2025, was married to Akosua Serwaa and Odo Broni, with a total of nine children. The late musician’s estate includes properties in Accra and Kumasi, as well as businesses like DL FM and DL Water.
The outcome of this case will likely have significant implications for the distribution of Daddy Lumba’s estate and the relationships within his family.
