Adwoa Safo Announces Return To Contest Dome-Kwabenya NPP Parliamentary Seat

Former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, has formally announced her intention to contest again for the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidacy in the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency.

In a statement signed on Thursday, October 22, 2026, and titled _STATEMENT BY HON. SARAH ADWOA SAFO – DOME-KWABENYA NPP PARLIAMENTARY CONTEST_, the former MP said her decision follows “considerable reflection, extensive consultation and broad based engagement with party leadership and executives.”

She said she was guided by her conviction and loyalty to the principles and values of the NPP.

> “I formally announce my intention to once again present myself for consideration as the New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary Candidate for the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency when the party announces the timetable and guidelines for the parliamentary primaries.”

Safo, who represented the constituency in Parliament for 12 years, noted that she had earlier indicated her intention to pursue opportunities beyond the constituency. She said upon deeper reflection, she came to appreciate that “there is no greater honour or responsibility than serving and representing the interests and aspirations of the over two hundred thousand constituents of our beloved constituency in parliament.”

She said her decision to return is informed by her enduring commitment to the people of Dome-Kwabenya and her conviction that there remains much to contribute to the development of the constituency.

Describing Dome-Kwabenya as one of the fastest-growing constituencies in Ghana with significant opportunities and developmental challenges, she said over the last twelve years of her service as Member of Parliament, working together with residents, party faithful, community and religious leaders and stakeholders, “we made meaningful progress in addressing many of these challenges and delivered tangible development.”

On her electoral record, Safo said in 2012, when she was honoured to be elected as the parliamentary candidate, the votes they inherited was in the region of 35,000. She said through collective efforts, hardwork and unity of purpose, they gave the NPP and President Nana Addo *63,373 votes in the 2012 election*, increased the tally marginally to *65,488 in 2016*, and increased it again to *75,041 in the 2020 election*.

She stressed that the achievements are not hers alone, saying they reflect the dedication, sacrifice and commitment of every party member, supporter and constituent who believed in the shared vision for Dome-Kwabenya.

> “I firmly believe, that the strength of our party lies in our unity, our shared values, and our collective willingness to work together in pursuit of our common purpose.”

She said her aspiration is to continue serving alongside the people, to build a constituency where young people can realise their potential, families can thrive, and the concerns of ordinary residents receive the due attention they deserve.

She invited party members, stakeholders and constituents alike to engage with her in a spirit of openness, candor and mutual respect as they reflect on the future of Dome-Kwabenya and the leadership required to drive its next phase of growth and development.

“Dome-Kwabenya is home. It has always been home. My commitment to its people remains unwavering, and my resolve to serve remains steadfast,” she concluded.

The statement ended with: _God bless Dome-Kwabenya, God bless the New Patriotic Party, God bless our homeland, Ghana._
