Lawyer for Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, Samuel Atta Akyea, has revealed that EOCO did not have a warrant to search his client’s house yet they indicated they were going to, adding that he went to his client’s house to wait for them but they never showed up. He disclosed this on TV3GH and 3NewsGH on Friday, 2nd October, 2026.

According to Atta Akyea, officials of the Economic and Organised Crime Office told his client they intended to conduct a search at his residence despite not having the required judicial authorization. The senior lawyer said he immediately moved to the house to observe the process and ensure due process was followed.

“I went to his house to wait for them but they never showed up,” Atta Akyea stated, questioning the conduct of EOCO in the ongoing investigation involving the Manhyia South MP. He argued that a search without a warrant would violate his client’s constitutional rights and breach procedural fairness under Ghana’s criminal procedure laws.

The Manhyia South MP, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, had earlier surrendered to EOCO custody after the High Court cleared EOCO to arrest him in connection with a probe linked to SIC Life Savings and Loans Company Limited. His legal team insists he was never personally under investigation but his law firm was.

Atta Akyea’s revelation has reignited debate about EOCO’s handling of the case, with some legal observers saying the timeline raises questions about procedural fairness, especially after the MP became vocal for Madam Salomey in the Ghana Jollof matter. EOCO is yet to respond to the warrant claims as at Friday, 2nd October, 2026.

The case continues to trend under #3NewsGH #TV3GH as Ghanaians await further clarification from EOCO on its investigative procedures.
