President John Dramani Mahama has presented relief items to victims of the recent floods in Hohoe in the Volta Region, as the government steps up support for communities affected by the disaster. The presentation took place in Hohoe on Thursday, 2nd October, 2026, according to UTV Ghana.

The relief package included food items, mattresses, blankets, building materials and other essential supplies aimed at helping affected families recover quickly. The recent floods in Hohoe submerged homes, destroyed property and displaced hundreds of residents, with several communities in low-lying areas badly hit.

President Mahama, who was represented by a delegation from the Presidency and the Volta Regional Coordinating Council, expressed sympathy to the victims and assured them of government’s continued support. He said government through NADMO and the Regional Minister is assessing damages and putting in place long-term flood mitigation measures.

Beneficiaries thanked President Mahama for the swift intervention, describing the support as timely. The Volta Regional Minister noted that Keta, Hohoe and other flood-prone areas need urgent drainage infrastructure improvements to prevent recurring disasters that disrupt livelihoods and displace residents every rainy season.
