Forgiveness Helped Reconcile About 10 Marriages – Tonto Dikeh

Actress Tonto Dikeh says her reconciliation journey has inspired at least 10 women to pursue healing and healthier co-parenting relationships.

Nigerian actress, philanthropist and now evangelist Tonto Dikeh says her decision to forgive and reconcile with her ex-husband for the sake of their son has since inspired at least 10 women to restore broken relationships and embrace healthier co-parenting. Dikeh, who shared the reflection in a social media post, said hundreds of women had contacted her following her own reconciliation, seeking guidance on how she learned to forgive those who had hurt her.

Although she could not respond to everyone, she said she deliberately reached out to women whose experiences and pain were similar to hers. According to the actress, those personal interactions have resulted in the reconciliation of at least 10 women, whom she said had been able to restore peace, begin healing and take steps towards healthy co-parenting.

“Today, to the glory of God, at least 10 women have been reconciled,” Dikeh said, describing the development as evidence that her personal experience had become a tool for restoring families and healing wounded relationships. She urged people struggling with bitterness to consider forgiveness as a means of freeing themselves from the emotional burden of past hurt. “Forgiveness is never for the person who hurt you; it is for you,” she said, stressing that letting go of resentment was necessary for people seeking to move forward with their lives.

Evangelist Dikeh also cautioned against allowing personal pain to become a reason for wishing harm on others, arguing that individuals must take responsibility for releasing the emotional weight associated with past experiences. She said genuine closure does not necessarily come from the people who caused the pain but from God, reflecting her Christian faith and belief in divine restoration.

She referenced the biblical promise that God would “restore the years that the cankerworm has eaten”, saying the promise gave hope to people who felt they had lost significant portions of their lives to pain and difficult experiences. According to her, years of tears and emotional suffering can eventually become the foundation for a powerful testimony.

Dikeh’s message was particularly directed at women seeking peace, healing and family restoration, whom she encouraged to remain hopeful about the possibility of rebuilding their lives. Her experience also highlights the complexities of relationships involving separated parents, where forgiveness and reconciliation can create opportunities for more constructive co-parenting, while also emphasising the importance of healing from past hurt. She concluded her message by praying that her own story would serve as a “beacon of hope” to women and their families who are seeking peace, healing and restoration.
