Health Ministry Pays Nurses, Plans Major Recruitment Drive

The Ministry of Health has taken a significant step towards addressing the country’s healthcare workforce challenges by paying two months’ salary arrears to newly recruited nurses. According to #UTVGhana, the move is part of the government’s efforts to strengthen the healthcare system and improve working conditions for health professionals.

The Ministry has also announced plans to recruit up to 16,000 health workers this year, a move expected to boost the country’s healthcare delivery. The recruitment drive is aimed at addressing the acute shortage of health personnel, particularly in rural areas.

The payment of salary arrears is a welcome relief to the affected nurses, who have been facing financial difficulties. The Ministry’s gesture is seen as a demonstration of its commitment to supporting health workers and improving the overall quality of healthcare in the country.

The recruitment of additional health workers is expected to reduce the workload on existing staff, enabling them to provide more effective care to patients. It will also create job opportunities for thousands of unemployed health professionals.

The Health Ministry’s initiatives are part of a broader effort to revitalize the healthcare sector and achieve universal health coverage.
