Gaming Commission Launches Ho Office Amidst Support for Responsible Gaming

The Gaming Commission of Ghana has officially opened its Volta Regional Office in Ho, marking a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to regulate the gaming industry. According to #GamingCommission, the ceremony was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Hon. James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, and Hon. Edem Kofi Kpotosu, MP for Ho Central.
The new office is expected to bring regulatory services closer to the public, enhancing oversight and promoting responsible gaming practices. Hon. James Gunu described the office as a significant step for the gaming industry, recalling the removal of the 10% betting tax and urging stakeholders to engage in responsible gaming.
L. A. Apanga Esq., Ag. Deputy Gaming Commissioner, declared a “new covenant” with the Volta Region, warning illegal operators that the Commission would take decisive action against them. He called on traditional leaders and security services to support efforts to keep gaming lawful.
Hon. Edem Kofi Kpotosu reaffirmed the importance of the Commission’s presence in Ho, highlighting its potential to enhance development in the Ho Central Constituency. The event was marked by a sword-cutting ceremony and a tour of the facility.
The Gaming Commission’s presence in Ho is expected to promote a culture of responsible gaming and support the growth of the industry in the region. The Commission has vowed to work with licensed operators, while cracking down on illicit activities.
