Bawumia Takes Commanding 73% Lead in NPP Primaries

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is cruising to victory in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer race, with a whopping 73% support from party delegates, according to the latest Global InfoAnalytics survey.

Kennedy Agyapong trails behind in second place with 19%, while Dr. Bryan Acheampong comes in third with 5%. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum and Kwabena Agyei Agyapong follow with 2% and 1%, respectively.

The survey reveals a significant shift from previous reports, where Bawumia had a narrower 45% lead, with Kennedy Agyapong garnering 31%. The latest update suggests that Bawumia’s support has surged, while Agyapong’s has dwindled.

Interestingly, the survey also shows that 56% of general Ghanaian voters prefer Bawumia to lead the NPP into the 2028 elections, with Kennedy Agyapong coming in second with 28%.

The NPP is set to hold its primaries on January 31st to elect a flagbearer for the 2028 election. With Bawumia’s commanding lead, it’s looking like a tough challenge for his opponents.
